It's always good to think outside the box. In this case the box was "Don't hurt hostages".
I'm sure they're just stunned, though that's a rather big blast for a stun.
Edit: Come to think of it, if it *wasn't* a stun blast they would probably be on fire from the heat of it.

Eh, Quint's not a villain, just an antihero. He just doesn't have to take crap from the others when he doesn't have the heroes restrictions.

The simplest way to deal with a problem is to remove it from the equation. Or knock them out... that works too.

heh, reminds me of a transformers: beast wars moment. Dinobot comes in with trantulas as a hostage, and megatron just blast's tarantulus, removing the problem in one swift move. XP

ummm... unless Quint actually killed them, Copybot and Metal can still use them as hostages. Just because they're stunned/unconcious does not mean they can't be killed.
