This is probably the third most traumatic death in my lifetime. The first two were Optimus Prime and Aeris.

hey, do you wanna link each other? I'd like to add you, but i'd also lik eit if you added me :)

Posted by Dark-Chaos on Sat Sep 16th 2006 at 4:42am
THATS your third
I've been saying for years the deaths that everyone finds tramatic and stuff are
Nei - Phantasy Star 2
Aerith - Final Fantasy
Optimus Prime - Transformers

I think Alis from Phantasy Star 4 was also a harsh one because it's one you also never see coming... and you see her die in bed from poison. PLUS SHE WAS A CHARACTER FROM THE START (like Nei), thought to be the main character by some.

I think my childhood followed a different path from you guys, possibly because i never had an SNES or a playstation (genesis and N-64 for me) traumatic deaths for me included Dinobot from beast wars, the people who lived in the Wind Fish's dreamland in Link's Awakening, and then Maria

Lots of moments in Terranigma were somekind of harsh...
NeoTokyo totally destroyed, some deserted town became monster town ect. =O

I never got into any of the Phantasy Star series or Terranigma, but the people in the wind fish bummed me out. Not Dinobot though, he died a hero and I was glad that he was able to atone for his previous misdeeds. Unlike poor Rhinox...

Try it
The original Phantasy Star series on Master System and then the Mega Drive are some of the best RPG's there are.
I completly grew up on the old SEGA and Nintendo stuff

so what
I never played ff7 but Aeris dying is pretty funny when you think about it XD

In my opinion, Red Wolf's death in Metal Max Returns was quite a sad moment, after all, he was one of the, if not THE coolest charicter in the game. Even his tank wasn't able to save him, what with his being attacked by a tank belonging to a gang leader and all.

Damas's death in Jak 3. Crushed under a car, a heroic sacrifice.

you want a tragic death? FMA, Lt. Col Hughes. Watch the episode with his death and funeral, then try to tell me with a straight face you didn't cry.

Posted by E (Guest) on Fri Aug 1st 2008 at 5:34pm
Who is aeris?

Posted by Shadow (Guest) on Tue Oct 21st 2008 at 5:42pm
Am I the only one who found Aeris/th dying ANNOYING? Seriously, I spent ages training her up, thinking she'd died near the end rather than near the beginning, and then all the work I'd done on training her up was for NOTHING.

Lt. Col. Hughes though... I didn't CRY, but I found it upsetting. He's actually Brigadier General Hughs, though.

I am certain that most Americans will say that the first tramatic death they ever saw in their life would be Bambi's mother...
Such a heart-wrenching moment...

Yea, Optimus Prime's death was the first tramatic thing I saw.

Seriously though, who kills someone in a game, let alone a child!?

Okay, so every game does that, but still, a kid!

And Hughes from Fullmetal Alchemist too!

At least Optimus came back. But who the hell is Aeris?

Posted by Striffen Cloud on Sat Sep 19th 2009 at 8:46am
What about Goku, Goku,Goku, Vegeta, Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin, Etc? Sure most of them died multiple times, but...XD

Whats interesting, is The scene where Aeris is killed by Sephiroth has been referred to as "The most shocking moment in Video Games"

Posted by Kushmysta on Sun Oct 24th 2010 at 4:08pm
If you think about it
A Phoenix down just coulda healed her up...... Y didn't cloud think of that before dumping her body in water.........

Dark-Chaos called it.
Only two fictional-character deaths have ever got tears from me*:
Alis Brangwin from Phantasy Star IV...
... and Asahina from RahXephon (yeah, that anime)...

Couldn't have cared less about Aeris. She should have done a barrel roll.

(*= Discounting Lagi, who never really died... really.)

I'm against Maria's death as well. If it wasn't for GUN, everything would have been alright...
