If you're curious, compressing it's form weakens the Yellow Devil's defenses. Even though the devillim is sturdier in it's compact form, it's also spread out much more thinly over the core.

...Wait..what?

Think about it, (EXACT same theory 'can' be used for Beam attacks too) The closer you push together.. everything, the more solid and 'heavy-duity' it is. For geloid enimies, like the YD, turns his skin into a BRICK. (If not a reactive, and chaotic brick.. that'll pop link a pimple when hit hard enough)
And.. for Beam attacks, turns the blast into a chaotic, explosive stream of energy...hehehe...

I'm just good at making up bullshit.

Weak/Dense?
Compacting the micromanaged units does indeed make them weaker when you consider that the YD is attacked by energy weapons.

Consider the atomic model of room temperature water: the molecules are constantly moving small amounts while staying in the glass. The warm molecules rise, slowly cool, and then sink beneath the new rising warm molecules. Because of this the water maintains a uniform temperature that changes only slowly if you try to boil it. The water on the bottom of the pan is constantly replaced with sinking cool molecules even as it heats up molecules that rise.

If a chunk of cold, densely packed water (ice) is placed in a set of hot loosely packed water (boiling water) the water is no longer uniform. The water at the outside of the dense body rapidly heats to form steam while the molecules at the center remain a large chunk.

If we shine a laser at an ice block, we can melt a hole into it easily. More easily than we could boil water by lazer. While we won't go so far as to say the YD "evaporates," he won't be able to cycle the damages molecules around the laser as quickly so he can't recover the damage.
