Another comic released before Mega Man Powered Up. As most of you know, they decided to retcon his real name from Rock to Mega. Personally, I prefer Rock, so I'm sticking with it in this comic. But, if you really want me to work it in, let's just say that his real name is Mega, but sometime between MM1 and MM3, he earned the nickname Rock.

The name Mega was a translation error, not a plot change.

no actually they changed it cause for some reason alot of people considered the reference to rock and roll music offensive

No, it wasn't changed on purpose, it was a localization error. His real name is still Rock.

Some other name changes that Capcom seems to ignore.

Proto Man's orignal name, before Mega Man was made was Blues, the start of Light's love of music. He was first called Break Man ingame Mega Man 3. Personally, I use Break Man more than Proto Man... but that's just me.

Rock - Rockman was the Japanese way. Rock stayed as Mega Man's original name in the US, but they changed it to Mega Man for some stupid reason, probably 'cause Americans must've thought Rock Man wasn't heroic enough.

Okay. Let me clear this up...

Rock = Mega's JAPANESE Name!
This is the name that people in Japan call him him. It's a pun when you look at the other character's Japanese names.
Roll = Roll
Rush = Rash
Proto = Blues
Bass = Forte
Treble = Gospel (*GASP!* Never thought I'd see a Japanese VG company make a religious reference!)

Actually it's a reference to gospel MUSIC.

Let me clean this up even more.

Rock = Mega's Japanese name. Mega might be a localization error, because...
Rock Man = Mega Man
Roll = Roll
Proto Man = Blues
Break Man = One stage boss which was a sniper joe disguised as Proto Man.
