Let's see, Wily's tried to take ove the world in Mega Man 1-8, Mega Man and Bass, the two arcde games, Mega Man soccer, the five gameboy titles, and the original story from Wily Wars. Robotnik's tried in Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles (I consider that one plot), Sonic Blast, 1 & 2 for the game gear, Sonic CD, Sonic the Fighters, Sonic Spinball, Sonic Chaos, Triple Trouble, Sonic Labrynth, Knuckles Chaotix, both Sonic Adventures, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Riders, Sonic Advance 1-3, Sonic Battle, and Sonic Rush. That's 18 tries for Wily, and 23 for Robotnik not including anything I might have missed. It's no wonder they can't come up with an original plan.

the plots where eggman let's sonic race for chaos emeralds is just lame (not to mention the games are bad)oh and by the way. Sonic 3 & Knuckles used to be 1 game, untill sega got short on time and split sonic & Knuckles from Sonic 3 and released it as a brand new game

Midiman, Um, the whole, Sonic 3&K thing being one game... is it even worth saying it? I mean it IS well known information ANY Sonic fan would know... even those who just went into the level select and didn't do reseach knows it (with Muchroom Hill and Flying Battery being in the list).

well I didn't find out untill like 2 or 3 months ago. That's A becuase I don't cheat and B because I wasn't that interested in sonic to find that out. I'm guessing there more readers out there like me. so it was just in case

Then use the level select and debug mode on death egg, you'll find the hidden Knuckles route that was originaly going to be used before they decided for his game to end at Sky Sanctury. I found it while exploring levels for an FAQ I was writing about a decade ago.
I don't cheat to cheat, I cheat to reseach :)
Note to find it: Later just before the boss of act 1 there's a pit fall that kills you and a clossed door. That is where Knuckles's route merges into Sonic's route. You'll notice groups of rings that can be picked up by gliding through and deceding like in Hydrocity. The route is below Sonic's starting point and to the right a while.
