Originally, Proto Man was one of the hardest characters to add any emotion to. With his dark shades covering his eyes I could only do emotions through his mouth. unfortunately, there's only about five pixels you can manipulate and still have him look like Proto Man, and no combination seemed to work for his surprised look. Fortunately he's usually calm an collected, but every now and again something happens that catches even him off guard. The best way to show any emotion is through the eyes, so eventually I came up with the idea of treating his shades as if they were his physical eyes. personally I think it works quite well.

It's funny how he stopped Knuckles from attacking by putting his shield in front of him causing Knuckles to smack into the shield.
